About The Show-Me Cajun

My name is Cliff Faucheux, and I am from Norco, LA.  As the title would suggest I live in the Show Me State, but more precisely St Charles, MO.

I was in great shape when I was younger (as many people are), but over the past 20 years I have slowly lost several steps.  My brother recently challenged me to complete a Tough Mudder race, and I decided to accept the challenge.

I am 40 years old, and I am currently training for the St. Peters Rec-Plex Spring Triathlon.  I am married to an amazing woman, and I have 3 great kids.

I started this blog for a number of reasons.  First, I wanted to have something to keep me going.  If I have to post daily on my blog, I will be forced to do something productive with my time.  Next, I wanted a place to keep links that I find useful in my journey (either diet, exercise, or motivation related).  Finally, I wanted a way for my family and friends to keep up with my journey.  Hopefully I will be able to put fresh and new content up frequently enough for people to know exactly where I am in my journey from now until whenever.

I started out at 5’11” tall and about 290 lbs.  That’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 110 lbs overweight, depending on the chart.  My most recent weight has me at 275. I have a fairly large build, and I would be quite thin at anything less than 170 lbs.

I hope everyone enjoys following along.  Enjoy!

Love the Title. I used to live in North Central Missouri and married a Cajun girl with family all over south central Louisiana.

Thanks for checking in! I think everyone from LA has family all over one region. My family is spread out across Southeastern LA for the most part.

Thanks! It’s not until September, but I’m really excited about it.

I read the story you commented on, by a woman who’s father was a marathon runner when I came across your “Show-me Cajun” title. Being a native St. Louisan it caught my eye. I’m also interested in regaining a bit of fitness as I approach 50 and have a husband, three kids, and a very co-dependent cat to live for. Had to go and make it my resolution. Also had to check in with someone of a similar mind who happens to live on the speck next door on the whole planet (just over the JB Bridge). I’ll check in from time to time to see how others find thier way back to better health. Good luck on your journey! I’m very encouraged that you completed a tri-athalon recently. I’m thinking about it too.

I haven’t done a triathlon recently, it was actually about 10 years ago. I am planning to do another one this year though. I would recommend the Wood River Triathlon as a great first race if you have never done one. It’s very family friendly, and the entire course is flat. Thanks a bunch for stopping by. It will be nice to have someone local to bounce ideas off of. Best of luck to you as well!

Here’s another one (but you don’t have to do anything for getting it because I made it up, so it’s my rules).
